Boxers and martial artists are some of the most highly conditioned athletes competing in sports today, and that if you follow some simple procedures, you can build stamina, tone your muscles and burn calories.
The first thing to understand about martial art exercise routines is that they are composed of roughly 60 percent anaerobic activity performed at 85 to 90 percent of your maximum heart rate. Compared to aerobic activity, in which your heart beats within 70 to 85 percent of its maximum, the exercises are extremely strenuous and not for the faint-hearted--or weak-wristed, for that matter.
