Your journey toward optimal health

Though your journey toward Optimal Health may begin with weight loss or losing unhealthy habits, you will likely soon realize that creating health is more about what you gain rather than what you lose. Sure, losing weight feels good, but what that accomplishment gives you is far more rewarding.

In losing weight or unhealthy habits, you regain control of your destiny. You can be more active. You can spend more time with your family. You can recapture your self-confidence. You can unlock a vibrant new lifestyle. Ultimately, what you gain is more meaningful time to spend with the ones that you love.

Being proactive about your health leads to far more rewards than being reactive, which is the basis of the Optimal Health mindset. How you frame this in your mind is important. Rather than thinking about losing weight or what unhealthy habits could negatively mean for your life, think instead about what you will gain. Since you know that your mental health is intertwined with your physical health, you can focus on all of the great things you will be able to do and experience with a greater mental presence.

Don’t think about losing weight. Think about gaining confidence and health. Don’t think about being afraid of disease. Think about adding more wonderful memories to your life. You can create new memories with the people you love. You can enjoy more of the activities that leave you feeling fulfilled. You can savor a more vibrant lifestyle. Optimal Health is truly about growth. In the long term, what you gain can be far more meaningful than what you lose.

New beginnings - again :)

I have been in diet limbo - losing and gaining.... and losing and gaining.

I was invited to participate in a Weight Loss Research study and they would pay!!  I did all the medical work ups and got a clean bill of health!  Great news.

The study involved three groups, a weight loss group low calorie, a weight loss group low calorie extra protein and the control group.

Guess which group I got picked for????  Yup you got it - the control group - which means I have to go through all the future medically testing along the way, eat the pre packaged food and NOT lose any weight - you are not allowed to lose weight when you are in the control group.

That is the bad news.  I did get $100 for doing the testing and getting qualified.  I decided I did not want to be in the control group for a year - have to go to the meetings, testing and diet food

The good news is that I can still do the weight loss portion on my own.  They use the Medifast products in the study and they say the get great results.

  So that is the new path I am on.  Starting again :)

New Beginnings..... Again

Struggling on...... again....

But this time I have decided to make an investment in myself and hire a weight loss coach.

So far it has been the best decision I have made about my weight struggle and my health.  I have been meeting with him every 2 weeks for 8 weeks now and I have lost 32 lbs!!!!

It has really seemed to make a difference that I have paid the money AND made the commitment.

A few things seems better this time - I am getting rid of the bigger clothes as I outgrown them :)



I have even gotten a few "inspiration" pieces in my goal size - my favorite one is a Michael Kors jacket.  It is SOOO cute!

I even think i can actually image myself skinny!!

The plan is healthy food and exercise - wow, what a novel concept.

It is hard work, but it is a new lifestyle for me - just taking it day by day :)

Weight Loss update - Isagenix shake and cleanse

Things have been going good with my commitment to lose weight and get healthy in 2011.  In years past when I have made the determination to make major changes I have failed.  This year has been different.  I made the decision and have followed through with that decision.  And I feel great.

One of the biggest helps to my success has been the ease and nutrition of the Isagenix products.  I love the way they taste.  The products have such good nutrition that I feel they help me stay on track.

I have lost 44 pounds in 6 months which I am very happy with.  The main reason that it is not a bigger number is the amount of times I have eaten more than I should.  For me this is a good thing.  Normally I would have gone off the program long ago.  What pleases me so much is the fact that I can have the cheats and still get back with the program and continue to lose.

The slow weight loss is good at my age (52) because it gives my body a chance to catch up the changes.

Weight loss and cheating

I do good sticking with the program and then I do a cheat,  but this has not been bothering the progress too much.  This program has been conducive to the instead occasional cheat.

Another good thing is that I feel physically lousy when I eat the junk - and generally yucky.  So hopefully I will cheat less this way.

I have added a little more fiber to my diet and I think that is a good thing.
