Eating late at night - the benefits of not eating at night

Saturday

One habit that I have been successful at changing is the late night eating. Every night when I would go in the bedroom I would have a snack of ice cream or something like that. A couple of months ago I made the decision to try not to eat in my bedroom at night. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be and now it has become a habit.

So now I need to decide what will be my new habit to change. Maybe a good one would be a little nighttime exercise. Replace a bad habit with a new one.

Nice change of habits!

If I eat at night now I try and limit it to one tbsp of peanut butter because I use to be the same as you eating ice cream and other bad things.

I'm definitely a late night eater too. I used to also eat a big bowl of ice cream, sometimes right before bed, and I usually wasn't even hungry. Once I made the committment to only eat when I'm hungry, it became easier not to have that late night snack.

This is an awesome idea! I think I am going to try it. I eat in my room all of the time. Thanks!

it has really been helping - and I find that I sleep better too - it is good if you have problems with heartburn too

I used to snack late at night, too. I stopped, and it's one of the few bad habits I haven't re-acquired. That's the trick, though. I rarely have the "stick with it-ness" that I should have.

Good job making a change and keeping with it.

I'm glad you're day got better too! I always feel better after exercising.

I'm a late night eater too...I find it to be a really hard habit for me to break.

Thanks for stopping by my bloggie! :) I totally struggle with late night eating. I have found that getting more fiber, fat, and protein in my dinner is key, and having an evening hobby, like doing a crossword puzzle. Good luck!

That's been my problem as long as I can remember, eating late at night. My new thing is going to bed early, about an hour after dinner. I sleep through my night time cravings (actually not sure I'm even having them anymore since I'm asleep!). :)

late nite eating can really do you in - good tips about crossword puzzles, eating protein and going to bed early :)

Up with cheerios and bran!

One bad habit I've replaced with a good one is drinking my coffee black instead of loaded up with cream and sugar. It started when I was doing WW a few years back and I hated wasting points on creamer and the like, so I made the switch and never went back.

I love replacing the bad habits with good - coffee is not one that i ever developed - i even dislike the smell of coffee
